The Wright Brothers
The Wright brothers (Wilbur and Orville) were American inventors. They achieved the first sustained, powered, and controlled airplane flight in 1903 and surpassed their own milestone when they built and flew the first fully practical airplane two years later.
Wilbur Wright
Wilbur was the middle child in a family of five children; he was born on April 16, 1867, near Millville, Indiana. Milton Wright, his father, was a bishop in the church of the United Brethren in Christ; his mother was Susan Catherine Koerner. Orville Wright, hie younger brother, was Wilbur's playmate as a child. Orville was born in 1871.

Milton's preaching took him on the road frequently. In 1878 he brought back a small model helicopter for his boys; he often brought back small toys for his children.the toy helicopter was made out of cork, bamboo and paper, powered by a rubber band to twirl its blades, the model was based on a design by the French aeronautical pioneer Alphonse Penaud.
